Lockheed EC-121 (WV-2) Warning Star model airplane

Design of the Lockheed L-49 began in 1939 to meet the requirement of Pan American Airways and Transcontinental & Western Air (now Trans World Airlines), for a 40-passenger airliner for use on domestic routes. Manufacture of the aircraft was initiated, but with the outbreak of World War II, aircraft on the production line were commandeered for service with the USAAF as transports under the designation C-69, the first airplane being flown on January 9, 1943. A total of 22 entered USAAF service before the contract cancellations following VJ-Day at the end of World War II. Production of civil aircraft then began under the company designation L-049 Constellation. When production of the airplane ended in the late 1950s, a total of 856 aircraft of all versions, both civil and military, had been built. When their days with the major airlines were over, many Constellations soldiered on with small cargo carriers in Central and South America. The Warning Stars were the first US planes to carry early warning radar of intruding aircraft, later versions were also equipped with newly developed electronic countermeasures and warfare equipment. The aircraft carried four 3,400 hp Turbo-Compound engines, capable of 377 mph at 18,600 ft; service ceiling of 23,700 ft; and a range with maximum payload of 4,940 miles.

All airplane models are Hand Carved, Hand Painted Mahogany and come fully assembled with removable desk stand.
