Automobil und Aviatik AG was established at Mulhausen, Alsace-Lorraine, during 1910, and began its aviation activities by building airplanes of French design. Experience so gained enabled the company to begin the design and construction of original airplanes, and with the outbreak of World War I the company was able to quickly develop a two-seat reconnaissance airplane. This was based upon the design of a racing biplane of 1913, but differed by being of far more robust construction. Designated Aviatik B.I, a number of these airplanes appeared in service during 1914 in two-bay, and increased-span three-bay configuration. No details are known of the number of airplanes that were constructed. The B.I used one 100-hp Mercedes D.I inline piston engine. All airplane models are Hand Carved, Hand Painted Mahogany and come fully assembled with removable desk stand.
