The Gulfstream IV was flown for the first time on December 2, 1985. By comparison with the Gulfstream II, the fuselage length on this airplane was increased by 101 inches; allowing for the incorporation of a redesigned nose with improved windows on the flight deck, giving the airplane a longer cabin. Key to the improved performance of this aircraft was its new supercritical wing with winglets to squeeze the maximum range out of the increased fuel tankage. The Gulfstream IV is suitable for multi-purpose operation, whether civilian or military. The Gulfstream IV is powered by two 13,800-lb. thrust Rolls-Royce Tay Mk 611-8 turbofans, giving the airplane a maximum cruising speed of Mach 0.88, long-range cruising speed of Mach 0.80, certified ceiling of 45,000 feet, and a range with NBAA IFR reserves of 4,200 miles. All airplane models are Hand Carved, Hand Painted Mahogany and come fully assembled with removable desk stand.
