The Prototype of this helicopter was first flown on October 17, 1974, and production helicopters entered service in 1979. The Army has introduced a variety of versions into service for assault, Medevac, electronic warfare, and special operations. By 1993 a total of 1,816 H-60/S/70s had been built for customers in 20 nations. The UH-60 was powered by two 1,560 shp General Electric turboshaft engines, giving the helicopter a maximum cruising speed of approximately 150 mph. Helicopter armament is M134 Miniguns.
