The prototype of the helicopter first flew on March 11, 1959. The initial production version, the SH-3A Sea King, began to reach fleet squadrons in September, 1961 and later helicopter conversions included the HH-3A VIP transport flown by the Executive Flight Detachment, Washington, DC. The SH-3D was powered by two 1,400-shp General Electric T-58-10 turboshafts giving the helicopter a maximum speed of 166 mph, and a range with maximum fuel and 10% reserves of 625 miles. All helicopter models are Hand Carved, Hand Painted Mahogany and come fully assembled with removable desk stand.
